A city focused on fun and festivities, Hallendale Beach, Florida was little more than a swamp before 1895 when Henry Morrison Flagler decided to extend the Florida East Coast Railway into Palm Beach. Flagler convinced Luther Halland to facilitate Swedish settlements in the area which eventually grew into Hallendale Beach, officially incorporated in 1927. Today, about 40,000 Broward County residents call Hallendale Beach home, and exciting attractions range from casinos to horse racing.

Shopping and Dining
A day of shopping and dining in Hallendale Beach might begin at Crate and Barrel at the Village of Gulfstream Park and continue on to Beall’s Outlet on Hallandale Beach Blvd. If you’re shopping around for the best place to have dinner, on the other hand, you’re bound to find what you’re craving. James, Johnson and Sunset, little ones can spend hours on the playground while older children and adults can enjoy walking trails and athletic courts. The city municipal pool stays open all year and features a heated pool as well as a play pool with three interactive water structures. Water aerobics and swimming lessons are offered to the public. The Golden Isles Tennis Center is another facility offering instructional classes. The facility has 10 tennis courts, six of which are lighted for evening use. Open from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Golden Isles also boasts a pro shop and a locker/shower room. Of course, the beach that the city is named for is not to be missed either. The signature “beach ball” water tower is a landmark not soon forgotten. Art exhibitions, recycling education programs and Kids’ Night Out are just a few of the events sponsored by Hallendale City Parks and Recreation.
