Dania Beach Real Estate & Information

A City in Broward County, Florida

The oldest incorporated city in Broward County Dania Beach, Florida dates back to the 1880’s. Today, Dania Beach remains a small community of just under 30,000 residents in an area less than 6.5 square miles. Once known as the tomato capital of the world, Dania’s history is rich with claims to fame including Antiques Capital of the South and home to the “fastest sport in the world” Jai Alia. Today it is one of only four Broward County cities that can boast its own casino. First and best in so many ways, there’s only one way to really discover Dania Beach.

Shopping and Dining

Whether you’re a vacationer here or thinking about relocating to Dania Beach, there are a number of shopping and dining opportunities not to be missed. Dating back to the 40’s, Antique Row, along Federal Highway in downtown Dania, is home to more than 100 retailers. Also on Federal Highway, Jaxson’s Ice Cream Parlor is steeped in history as they’ve been scooping since 1956. Dinner with romance and an Italian flair can be found at Casa Bella Italian Restaurant. For an ocean front dining experience, Beach Watch Restaurant can serve up almost anything you’re craving. Another establishment with an extensive menu, Islamorda Fish Company, attached to the Bass Pro Shop, has a menu ranging from Sushi to New York Strip.

Parks and Recreation

Dania Beach visitors and residents can enjoy parks and recreation centers of all sizes. John U. Lloyd Beach State Park hosts activities including snorkeling, scuba diving and boating. Patrick J. Meli Park and Community Center provides a playground and courts for basketball, tennis and hand ball. The Aquatic Complex at this park has a teaching pool and a competition pool, both available for daily lessons, recreational swimming and special event rental. Boat owners will thoroughly enjoy Boaters Park (accessible only by boat and equipped with grills, picnic shelters and restrooms). From the law enforcement sponsored Torch Run to benefit Special Olympics to weekly classes in Tae Bo, Yoga and Jazzercise to a Homework Help Club, Dania Beach Parks and Recreation offers activities for everyone.

Living

“The fastest sport in the world” Jai Alia calls Dania home. Incorporating elements of handball and racquetball, there’s no quick or easy way to describe the fast action of Jai Alia; your best bet is to simply stop in at the establishment bearing the same name at 301 Dania Beach Boulevard and witness a game for yourself. If you’re looking for fun the whole family can enjoy, Boomer’s on 1st Street is a genuine family fun center with go-karts, batting cages, a game room, mini-golf, bowling, laser tag and much more. Another favorite family pastime, fishing is the focus of the International Game Fish Association located next to the Bass Pro Shop. Of course, the greatest “catches” in Dania Beach are the affordable home listings.

Schools, Health, Transportation

Collins and Dania Elementary schools serve the Pre-K – 5th grade students of Dania Beach. 6th – 8th graders attend Olsen Middle and high-schoolers in Dania attend South Broward High in the neighboring city of Hollywood. Find family healthcare at the Memorial Regional Hospital – Primary Care Center – Dania Beach. More urgent needs can be met less than five miles down the road at Memorial Regional Hospital, also in Hollywood. Broward County Transit busses will help you get to either of these locations as well as anywhere you’d like to go in Broward County. With so much to do filling up just under 6.5 square miles, you’ll have to move to Dania Beach to discover all it has to offer.
